Liverpool Football Club.
I have supported Liverpool F.C. since 1960, I was six years old and I am still an avid supporter. Although they have declined a little in recent years they are still the most sucessful club side in English football and now appear back on track to restore the glory back to Anfield.
You'll Never Walk Alone.

When you walk through a storm,
Hold your head up high,
And don't be afraid of the dark.
At the end of a storm,
There's a golden sky,
And the sweet silver song of a lark.
Walk on through the wind, Walk on through the rain,
Though your dreams be tossed and blown...
Walk on, walk on, with hope in your heart,
And you'll never walk alone.......
You'll never walk alone.
Walk on, walk on, with hope in your heart,
And you'll never walk alone.......
You'll never walk alone.

The Kop. Sadly "The Kop" as I knew it no longer exists. The Taylor report requiring grounds to be All Seated has seen to that. The "Kop" Had the greatest atmosphere of any football ground I ever visited. The "RoaR" of the Kop was something to be experienced.

Liverpool has many reasons to be proud of its unrivalled position in British football, especially the eighteen Championships, the five FA Cups, five League Cups and two UEFA Cups, but in particular the astonishing achievement of four European Cup wins stands out as something that is recognised the world over as truly remarkable.
Foundation of Liverpool F.C. But for a dispute between Everton F.C. and their landlord at Anfield in 1892, there may never have been a Liverpool club. This dispute persuaded the majority of Evertonians to quit Anfield for Goodison Park, leaving the landlord Mr John Houlding, to form a new club. He originally tried to retain the name "Everton" but when this failed he founded Liverpool Association F.C. on the 15th March 1892.

The Shankly Gates. It was only fitting that the Club should honour their greatest manager and so on August 26th 1982, the Shankly Gates were unveiled as a permanent tribute to the great man. There were no huge, cheering crowds, just a quiet, simple and moving ceremony in which Shankly's widow Nessie formally unlocked the Gates, in the presence of the then Chairman of LFC the late John W. Smith, Graeme Souness and Bob Paisley. Across the wrought iron gates is the legend now permanently part of the Liverpool mythology "You'll Never Walk Alone", words rendered all the more potent and powerful by the placing of the Hillsborough Memorial beside the Gates after the terrible tragedy of 1989.

The "Shankly" Gates.
Bill Shankly arrived at Liverpool Football Club in December 1959. As the new manager he inherited a sleeping giant of a club - once great, but marooned near the top of the second division, harbouring memories of the 1946-47 Championship win and the near miss of the 1950 FA Cup final.

By 1974, Shankly had totally transformed Liverpool - winning the Second Division Championship, the First Division Championship twice, securing two FA Cups for the Club, a finalists place in the Cup Winners Cup and the great UEFA Cup win of 1973. He was idolised by the fans, admired and respected by the players and his peers. His influence has been immeasurable - reaching right through the incomparable successes of the Paisley, Fagan and Dalglish years.

"Some people believe football is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed with that attitude. I can assure you it is much, much more important than that" -Bill Shankly.
